When you are at a vending machine and your product doesn't drop, the machine is set to automatically cancel the pending charge. There is a laser in the delivery tray that senses when a products drops through it, when it is not broken it automatically cancels those charges. It usually takes the financial institiution 24 hours to reconcile and release those funds, which will make that pending charge disappear.
